What is Social Security Disability?
At Leonard Moen & Associates, we help people obtain Social Security disability benefits in the State of Washington. We offer a free consultation about your claim; there is NO FEE if you do not get benefits.
Two types of Social Security disability benefits are available. Both require medical and vocational findings that the claimant cannot work due to a medical and/or mental disability of at least 12 months. Benefits include a monthly check and medical benefits.
- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits are available only to those who have an active work history.
- Social Security Insurance (SSI) is a needs-based program providing minimal benefits to those without the work-history requirement and very few other resources.
Applying for Social Security Disability benefits can be confusing, frustrating, and extremely time-consuming. We work with clients to file their initial applications and document their disabilities. Initially, most claims are denied and require reconsideration and appeal before benefits are granted. We work with clients through this process, helping to obtain the documentation required for claim approval. We frequently work with doctors to clarify what documentation Social Security needs. While we can work with you, wherever you are in the process, the more time we have to work with you and your doctors before your hearing, the better. In some cases we can help document your case so that a hearing is not necessary.
Social Security Disability rules and guidelines change every year. Even when the claim is justified, the claim is often denied. Having an attorney advocating for you and helping you and your doctors provide the necessary documentation increases the likelihood that your claim will be allowed sooner.
With decades of experience in Social Security Disability claims, we offer the personal counsel and care needed by someone whose life has been affected by a devastating personal injury or chronic condition. We use our knowledge, skill and experience to guide our clients through the system as quickly as possible.
